APTOS
With a little cooler weather, the quaint town of Aptos combines the redwoods and the sea in one idyllic setting, from Nisene Marks State Park to Seacliff State Beach. Historic Aptos Village boasts boutiques, restaurants, antique shops and an 1878 hotel.
Aptos is also home to golf, hotels and resorts, and Cabrillo College. The “newer” part of Aptos is where Seascape resort and the surrounding homes were built– now close to thirty years ago. Many of these homes have ocean views and, like so many other communities in the area, there are a handful of beach bungalows dotting the coastline.
For a seaside stroll, Seacliff State Beach is the perfect spot for a picnic or barbecue, where the U.S.S. Palo Alto, "the cement ship," an experimental concrete vessel, is docked at the end of a fishing pier.
